Tim Whitehead & The Spin Band

Wednesday 13th December 2023

The Spin welcomes back the saxophonist that The Spin has described many a time as one of their favourite musicians - anywhere on this planet!

Tim Whitehead is an exceptional player* who sounds utterly authentic in any branch of jazz stylings - be it ‘ECM’ lyricism, deep-groove blues and soul, or his full-throttle interpretations of jazz standards.

Tim began his career in the ground-breaking band, Loose Tubes. He then went on to form his own ensembles, winning such awards as ‘Jazz Album Of The Year' (BBC Music Magazine). He has collaborated with all sorts of artists, from piano ace Gwilym Simcock to writer, poet and national treasure, Michael Rosen! In 2009, Tim became the first ever musician to be hired as ‘artist in residence’ at Tate Britain, where he was tasked with performing live and spontaneously, in response to the paintings of JMW Turner. Tim’s CV is expansive: best to say, for more details of his career, please visit: timwhitehead.co.uk

This promises to be a night of exceptional music in a very intimate setting; please don’t miss out on this, folks….book NOW!!!

*As a piece of ‘trivia’, Tim has a family of exceptionally talented people…including the Hejira vocalist, Hattie Whitehead!
